Wine Regions
Exceptional wines, warm hospitality, striking winery architecture, and stunning landscapes combine with diverse local cuisines to create unforgettable moments.
La Rioja. Few wine regions in the world, if any, offer such an impressive combination of cutting edge contemporary architecture with historic vineyards. Renowned international architects such as Frank Gehry, Santiago Calatrava and Zaha Hadid have changed the landscape and put the region on the map as a ‘hot’ destination. It helps that some of the world’s top reds are produced here. We’ll introduce you to the traditionalists and movers and shakers of new Rioja.
Priorat’s remote, rocky terrain produces Spain’s most elite wines, thanks to its unique slate soil and pioneering winemakers. This region, known for its mineral-rich reds, is ideal for a wine escape from Barcelona, with its natural beauty and deep history. We recommend staying a couple of nights to fully savor the experience.
Ribera del Duero, northwest of Madrid, crafts bold reds acclaimed worldwide. Legendary wineries like Pingus and Vega Sicilia share the spotlight with Abadía Retuerta, also home to one of Spain’s top luxury properties, LeDomaine.
Just an hour from Barcelona, Penedès offers a deeper appreciation of Cava and innovative winemaking, while Jerez de la Frontera, near Sevilla, is the heart of authentic sherry. Pair a bone-dry fino with Iberian ham or savor sweet Pedro Ximénez over ice cream.
Beyond these, regions like Bierzo, Rías Baixas, and Ribeira Sacra promise equally rewarding visits. Wherever you go, let us craft a personalized wine tour, introducing you to the finest winemakers and experiences. Salud!
In all wine regions, our goal is to go beyond mere visits of wineries. Rather for us, the key is to actually meet the key wine makers, the movers and shakers of some of Spain’s best wineries. For example, in Rioja meet the man who was responsible for the wine at the current King’s and Queen’s wedding.
It’s also important that the winemakers are great hosts and know how to make a visit to their winery special. In some cases, the wines may not be the best known, nor off the scale on Robert Parker’s ratings, but the owner is a real character who entertains and makes it a memorable day. This is what we do from the Ribeira Sacra wine region in the northwest all the way down to lesser-known wine regions in the south such as Málaga, covering Ronda’s up and coming reds to and award-winning sweet wines.
We work with amazing wine guides in Priorat who have access to the top winemakers here in Spain’s most prestigious wine region. World-class wines, ancient vineyards, and breathtaking landscapes, a paradise for wine connoisseurs.
